The plaque will be unveiled at St Colman’s College, where he was an teacher for 31 years before he died in 1998, aged 54.

At his funeral President of Ireland, Mary McAleese said: “He loved his community, he loved his country and he placed his life at the service of others.”

The unveiling takes place at 11.30am on Tuesday, December 12 and attendance is by invitation only.
