Man arrested following Rostrevor assault

Police have arrested a man following a report of an assault in R ostrevor on Sunday (March 31).

A 24-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent, following the incident at a licensed premises in the Bridge Street area.

He has since been released on police bail to allow for further police enquiries.

A man, aged in his 20s, received serious head injuries after he fell to the ground during the altercation, shortly after 9pm.

He was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries, where he remains.

His condition has been described as critical but stable.

Detective Inspector Johnston said: Our investigating is continuing, we want to reiterate our appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the altercation, or who may have other information which could assist with our investigation, to contact us on 101 quoting reference number 1599 of 31/03/24."
