​Politicians welcome £10m drugs seizure

​​Politicians have welcomed the seizure of suspected Class A drugs worth an estimated £10m.

Sinn Fein MP Mickey Brady said, “The fact that these drugs will now not find their way into the criminal supply chain is good news.

“Drugs and the associated criminality destroy our communities and have blighted many lives.

“The investigation into this seizure is still at an early stage and I am hopeful that the PSNI and Garda Síochána will ensure those behind this activity are brought before the courts.”

​UUP councillor David Taylor said: “I want to offer my thanks to officers within the Slieve Gullion Neighbourhood Policing Team for the diligence they shown which has resulted in the seizure of this substantial haul.

“Their professionalism on duty has ensured the drugs seized will never reach our streets for distribution thereby preventing harm being caused to local communities.”
