A DUP councillor has distanced herself from a comment on social media saying recent flooding was “good enough for Newry and everyone in it.”

Causeway Coast and Glens Alderman Sharon McKillop is the owner of the Blackwater Bar in Dervock.

On Tuesday the post was made under the name of the Blackwater Bar along with an emoji supporting the sentiment.

The post was shared widely on social media and was criticised by many.

Yesterday Cllr McKillop posted: My business account was hacked last night and a deplorable comment was made by an unknown person.

"We have taken steps to ensure this does not happen again.

"We wish to dissociate ourselves from this comment completely.

"Our thoughts are with residents and business owners across Northern Ireland who are struggling to deal with the reality of flood damage."
