The Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign are to hold a rally at Newry Town Hall tonight (Wednesday) at 7pm.

Ahead of Wednesday's event the ISPC stated: 'Violence in Palestine has reached fever pitch not seen in decades.

"Gaza is being carpet bombed with thousands displaced, electricity has been turned off and starvation is openly being sought by Israel who refer to Palestinians in press statements as 'animals' as they intent to level the area.

"Gaza is commonly acknowledged as the largest open air prison in the world with 2 million inhabitants cramped into 16 miles, half of whom are children."

The statement concluded: "Stand with the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign as they call for a demonstration at Newry Town Hall on Wednesday, October 11 at 7pm in support of the people of Palestine.

"We can't stand by as Israel further pursues its Settler Colonial project with typical overwhelming force as the Imperial powers support 'Israel's right to defend itself'."
