Newry BID have called on local businesses who are most at risk of damage from the flooding overnight to get in contact.

They said: 'The Newry BID team is on the ground this morning assisting members with flood alleviation. We have been hit extremely hard overnight but please be assured that we will work together as a business community to recover from this.

'Newry BID has secured additional sand bags for members which are due to arrive later today. These will be allocated on an emergency basis to those businesses most at risk.

'If you believe your business is at risk and sand bags may help, please email [email protected] with your contact details and we will call you.

'Please contact us for any support you may require and we will keep you updated on further alerts.

'NIE is urging people not to go to premises pending further safety updates but if you do, it will be at your own risk. BID has canoes available if required to access premises.

'We have also spoken to local politicians about compensation claims and will be pursuing this when we emerge from this. Keep Safe.'
