‘Boss’ still seeking his forever home after a year at USPCA

Boss, who has been with the USPCA for a year.

A Staffordshire terrior, who came to the USPCA in Newry in May, is hoping to find his forever home after spending a year at the centre.

When ‘Boss’ was handed over to the charity, not much was known about his history but the USPCA animal care team noticed that he was extremely stressed. He wasn’t able to respond to any cues and he did not like the sound of his name.

Today, Boss is new dog. He absolutely loves and thrives on his training which is carried out by USPCA volunteer Brenda.

She says: “Everything that Boss has achieved speaks to the incredible pooch he is.

"He can now sit and stay, walk nicely on his lead, heel, maintain eye contact, not jump up and lots more. He has a wonderful personality and will happily lie up beside you and stay close to you.”

To mark his upcoming one year at the USPCA on 5th May, the animal care team took Boss out for a day trip this week to Warrenpoint. He enjoyed a nice long walk in the sunshine along the coast and received lots of treats.

Whilst Boss is much loved at the USPCA, what the team want is for him to find his forever home.

A spokesperson said: “Out of all of the animals currently in our care, Boss has been with us the longest.

"It’s heartbreaking to see him still waiting one year on. We know he will be such a happy boy once he has a chance to settle into a loving home with owners that can meet his needs.

"A full training plan and ongoing support from the charity is always available.”
