Communities from all around the country have been, and still are, experiencing the aftermath of Covid-19. Rising costs, health concerns, and general living to name a few issues, writes Jordan Treanor.

Jerrettspass Community Association, which is run by the residents, has been hit hard due to roof damage to their local village hall. The damage, which was located over the gents bathroom, caused concerns with leaking issues, as well as being left out of use due to health and safety concerns.

The community group is a non-profit organisation with all money going towards charities, as well as helping the community. They would often host coffee mornings, arts & craft classes and more.

Local resident and member of the trustee board, Jack McClenaghan, said: “Our insurance did not include the flat roof damage and we were left in a serious situation, using all the funds to keep the hall from falling into disrepair.”

With the fear of losing the hall becoming more of a reality, the locals approached the National Lottery Community Fund, who came to their rescue funding a grant to aid the repair to the roof.

Jack added: “The work has now been completed and hopefully we will be able to continue to create a much-needed centre for the local community.

The community would like to send their thanks to the National Lottery, as well as Forsythe Consulting contractor Mr Colm Meehan for their help in restoring the roof, and to all of those who helped.
