The details for births registered in 2023 were released on Tuesday by the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA).

Oisin was the most popular boys name recorded in the district with 27 registrations, while for the girls Fiadh was the most registered name, again with 27.

Across the Southern Trust the most popular boys name was Noah (42), followed by both Cillian and Tommy with 35. Third was Oisin (32), while Jack and James tied in fourth on 31 and fifth was Charlie (28).

For the girls in the Southern Trust region Isla was number 1 with 37 registrations, followed by Fiadh (36), Emily (34), Olivia (32) and Grace (31).
