OBE honour for Kathleen as she makes the New Year’s Honours List

Ballyholland woman Kathleen O’Hare has been given an OBE on the New Year’s Honours List.

Kathleen, a board member of Belfast Metropolitan College and a member of the Northern Ireland Council for the Curriculum has been honoured for services to Education in Northern Ireland.

"It’s a lovely tribute after four decades after four decades but very humbling to get something like this,” said Kathleen.

“I’ve been fortunate and I’ve worked with some lovely colleagues – some who have been honoured with various honours and others who haven’t been and will be forever remembered.”

It completes a double for the family – her husband, Eamon – the former Managing Director of the Newry-based OHMG construction company – received an OBE five years ago for services for construction.
