Poyntzpass PS recently held a successful ECO fashion show at the Boulevard.

This was a first for the Boulevard and a first for the Poyntzpass pupils to go public with their creations.

The ECO club has been making the whole school very aware of the need to think about the use of plastic.

Under the direction of Miss Johnston, ECO club co-ordinator, the children were encouraged to think of designs over the Easter holidays with the grand finale held at The Boulevard. There were thirty four contestants.

Principal Lornette McAlister said: “It was an excellent opportunity to allow our pupils to highlight the importance of recycling and reusing junk materials in a fun way but highlighting a serious issue.

“A huge thank you must go to The Boulevard and their support in the organisation, assisting with the prizes and their very generous gesture of providing each contestant with a Boulevard goodie bag.

“That attitude from both him, and his enthusiastic team, ensured the day was a great success.

“Of course, the day would not have run as smoothly from a school perspective without our fantastic Miss Johnston (ECO Co-ordinator) who inspired the pupils and organised the whole event from start to finish.

“Poyntzpass PS have super pupils who are supported by great parents and community and that was evident on the day of the fashion show with the creations on the catwalk and the number in the audience there to cheer on the pupils.

“Poyntzpass PS will continue to highlight the issues which are making the headlines with regards to saving our planet.

“We are already being asked by parents what we are doing next year!”
