Southern Area Hospice is delighted to be once again supporting Hospice volunteer and event organiser, Deborah Kennedy, as she looks forward to her 33rd year organising the annual Towpath Walk.

This year’s walk takes place on Sunday, April 21 in Newry.

Deborah and the Hospice are inviting people from all towns and communities in the Southern Trust area, to take part in the six-mile walking challenge which sets off from the Basin Walk carpark (outside Cue Club) in Newry at 12pm sharp.

The walk will continue out along the Newry towpath as far as Steenson’s Bridge and back again, with a short rest and refreshments at the halfway point before walkers turn to head back to the Cue Club.

Free parking is available at the Basin Walk carpark on the day.

Deborah commented: “I am thrilled to be back organising the Hospice Towpath Walk for its 33rd year.

"This event has raised over £340,000 for our local Hospice to date and I am hoping this year will be just as successful as the rest. Everyone is welcome to take part in this event as we walk together to raise much needed funds. I look forward to seeing you all on Sunday, April 21.”

Registration for this event is free and so Southern Area Hospice asks that each person who registers raises a minimum of £33 which represents £1 for every year it has taken place. You can register online now via the Hospice’s events calendar at www.southernareahospiceservices.org or phone our fundraising office on 028 3026 7711. All walkers must pre-register if they would like to take part, as there will be no registration on the day.
