Police are appealing for information after a car crashed into a house in Warrenpoint.

The incident took place on Tuesday morning at approximately 6am.

A police spokesperson said that a dark SUV type vehicle has crashed into a residential property in the Upper Dromore Road area of the town.

"The vehicle has then fled from the scene without leaving any of their details," the spokesperson added.

"At the time of the collision, one of the occupants was in the room of the property in which the collision occurred. Luckily they avoided any injury but this could have had much more serious consequences.

"We are now appealing for any witnesses to the incident or persons with dash-cam footage to contact us on 101 quoting reference 186 of 26/09/23.

"We would appeal to motorists who were driving at this time in Warrenpoint this morning, Did a dark coloured SUV with damage to it drive past you? Do you have Dash-Cam? Please let us know."
