Ulster Unionist Councillor David Taylor has welcomed the installation of traffic safety ramps at Jim Steen Play Park, Newtownhamilton.

Councillor Taylor said: “I recently met with local residents along with Council officials to discuss concerns about vehicles travelling at speed into Jim Steen Play Park, Newtownhamilton.

“There were genuine concerns about the safety risk posed to children using the play park and as a Council we agreed to look at measures aimed at addressing the situation.

“I am pleased that a positive outcome has been achieved with the installation of the traffic safety ramps which will reduce the speed of any vehicles entering or leaving the play park area.

“Significant investment has been invested in Jim Steen Play Park in the last number of years and as a local representative I want to ensure that children using the park do so in the safest manner possible.

“These works are therefore a welcome enhancement of safety provision at Jim Steen Play Park.”
