Ulster Unionist Representative, Councillor David Taylor has voiced his strong concerns regarding increases in both MOT and practical car driving test costs.

Councillor Taylor said: “I am concerned about the impact on motorists following the announcement by the Department for Infrastructure of an increase in both MOT and practical car driving test costs.

“Individuals who are trying to book tests at present are very unlikely to be able to find an available date ahead of this price rise as a result of the ongoing unacceptable delays in getting a date for MOT Tests.

“Additionally, the announcement that practical car driving tests are to increase from £45.50 to £65 for a weekday test and from £62.50 to an astounding £95 for evening or weekend tests is simply unbelievable.

“The decision to increase costs by the Department for Infrastructure will only serve to place further burden on those who are already struggling to make ends meet.  The Ulster Unionist Party will seek to challenge the increase in charges and the reasoning behind the unacceptable proposals.
