Members of the PSNI’s Slieve Gullion Neighbourhood Policing Team were joined on patrol by Chief Superintendent Hill as they conducted joint vehicle check points with Garda and Irish revenue officers along the south Armagh and north Louth border.

The action took place on Monday as part of a wider Joint Area Task Force (JATF) operation focused at tackling cross border criminality and aimed at those who seek to exploit the border for their own criminal gain.

A vehicle was seized for no insurance in County Armagh and revenue offences detected in County Louth.

Neighbourhood Inspector Adam Corner said, “Working with our partners along both sides of the border allows us to specifically target those in the area who commit offences and use the border to their advantage.

"[The] JATF operation will go some way to reassuring the community whom we collectively serve that we are serious about tackling the issues that matter to them.

"I would encourage anyone who has information about crime in the border area to contact the PSNI on 101 and ask to speak to their local Neighbourhood Policing Team."
