Long-held ambitions to convert the disused Warrenpoint PSNI Station into a community centre have been dealt what looks a fatal blow by Brexit.

Last week, concerns that the project had stalled were raised by representatives for the town - Sinn Féin Crotlieve councillor Mickey Ruane and his party colleague South Down MLA Sinéad Ennis – but it was a subsequent PSNI statement citing the Brexit effect that has confirmed their worst fears, causing ‘great anger and frustration’ in Warrenpoint - according to Cllr Ruane - and a degree of speculation locally that the site could even be used as a post-Brexit customs facility.
