Point eye replacement

9 June 2021

Barry Gray says that Warrenpoint Town can now advance talks with defensive targets following the departure of Danny Wallace to Glenavon.

The centre-back, who can also operate on the left side of defence, penned a three-year deal with Gary Hamilton’s men on Monday following the expiry of his contract at Warrenpoint.

As reported in last week’s edition, Gray had hoped to keep hold of the former Linfield and Ballymena man, who has been a mainstay at Milltown since arriving in July 2017. However, Wallace has opted to make the move to Lurgan where he will link up with Mark Haughey, Mark Stafford and Andy Waterworth, who left Linfield after they came to the end of their contracts at Windsor Park following this season’s league and cup double for David Healy’s side.

“We have options and we’ve spoken to them over the last number of weeks in preparation that, if Danny didn’t come on board, that we weren’t sitting idle when it was too late,” explained Gray.
