Spiking victim: I kept asking my friends 'am I dying... am I dying'

A young woman thought she was dying after she was left unconscious and hospitalised when her drink was spiked in a Warrenpoint bar.

Cliodhna Fegan from Newry was enjoying a night out with friends when she suddenly fell ill on Saturday night.

The 19-year-old make-up artist slipped in and out of consciousness and was unable to talk as she was rushed by pals to Daisy Hill Hospital.

It’s the latest report of drink spiking in the area in recent months.

Police recorded 34 reports of drink spiking in the north during October.

Cliodhna told the Reporter that she had just two drinks in the bar when she fell ill and lost consciousness.

“We headed out just before 9pm and went into the bar,” she said.

“It was filled with younger ones. We had a drink and everything was fine. It was whenever we got the second drink that it happened. I thought it tasted a bit funny, but I never passed any remarks.

“We went to the toilet and then headed back to the beer garden. I was having a conversation with friends and the next thing I knew I was lying outside on the ground.
