Villa Rovers disastrous start to their Carnbane League Premier Division season came to an end on Saturday, as at the sixth time of trying, they picked up their first win.

However, it was anything but straight forward for last season’s runners-up, as they appeared to be in total disarray at the half-time whistle.

At the break, last season’s Division 1 champions Millburn United led 3-0, and appeared to be on their way to victory.

But Villa had other ideas, and goals from Aaron Boyle, two from Kyle Brennan and an Eoin Devlin winner on 86 minutes saw them complete a dramatic turnaround.

That lead would grow to nine in the second half, as Watters added a hat trick, and Glenn Park found the net, but Newry Rovers did at least show some signs of life, as Matthew Fordyce netted twice in the space of five minutes.
