Premier Division

Archview United 4 Millburn United 4

Archview United and Millburn United played in some epic encounters in Division 1 last season, and that has continued during their stint in the top flight.

Marty Havern was the star of the show, as he scored all four of Archview’s goals. A brace from him had them 2-0 ahead, but momentum flipped with Millburn’s Conor McCartan and Darren McPolin scoring to level the game.

Then, Archview twice put the ball into their own net to make it 4-2 to the Warrenpoint club.

But Havern saved the day with two goals in the last 15 minutes to ensure the spoils were shared.

Camlough Rovers 2 Villa Rovers 2

These two teams played to a 2-2 draw last month, and Saturday’s fixture was no different.

Villa twice took the lead – through Jason Long, and a Camlough Rovers own goal – but the home side equalised on both occasions through Adam Loughran.

Greenfield Park 1

Cleary Celtic 9

Cleary Celtic have their eyes on some lucrative prizes, as they remain in both the IFA Junior Cup and the Mid Ulster Shield, but those cup runs proved not to be a distraction as they swatted Greenfield Park aside on Saturday.

Declan Monaghan had one of the games of his life, as he finished with six goals, whilst Neil Barr scored a brace and Mark Hughes also got on the scoresheet.

Rossowen 4 Newry Celtic 5

Competing with Cleary Celtic in a title race can’t be overly enjoyable with such little margin for error, but Newry Celtic continue to pick up the required results – this time coming out on top in a nine-goal thriller.

Two Richie Reynolds penalties had the hosts 2-0 up early on, but a Conor Shields brace levelled matters.

Two Keith Johnston goals in as many minutes made it 4-2 to the Celts, but Rossowen kept battling and after Reynolds grabbed his hat trick, and Michael Ireland found the net, they were level.

But Newry Celtic weren’t to be denied, and they claimed what could be a crucial three points with Shields netting his hat trick goal and the winning goal on 89 minutes.

Division 1

Ashgrove Rovers 1 Ballyholland 2

Ballyholland earned promotion from Division 1 and into the Premier Division with a 2-1 win over Ashgrove Rovers on Saturday.

However, things weren’t looking so good at half-time, when they trailed 1-0 following a Patrick McShane goal.

Michael Maguire levelled matters on 50 minutes, but Ballyholland still needed a winning goal in order to go up.

Orchard United would have had their fingers crossed that Ashgrove could hold on for a draw that would send them up, but cruelly for Orchard and wonderfully for Ballyholland, Seamus White scored an own goal on 90 minutes which proved to be the decisive goal.

Cartwheel United 1 Lisdrum Youth 0

Carthweel United finished out the Division 1 league season with a 1-0 victory over Lisdrum Youth. Micheal Traynor netted the only goal on 22 minutes.

Newry Rovers 2 Mayobridge 3

Newry Rovers finished out the Division 1 season with 18 games played and 18 defeats, following a 3-2 loss against Mayobridge.

Keelan McEvoy was undoubtedly Mayobridge’s marksman across the season, and he finished it in style, scoring a hat trick to help his side take the three points.

Sean Havern Memorial Cup

Section A

Parkview 5 rchard United 3

The Carnbane League Premier Division wasn’t the only competition where the goals were flying in, as Parkview and Orchard United combined for eight goals in the Sean Havern Memorial Cup.

Dillon Smyth put Orchard ahead, before Parkview scored two on the bounce, with the first coming through Ciaran O’Neill. United answered back through Sean Gorman to leave the score 2-2 at the interval.

But the second half belonged to Parkview, as they outscored the opposition 3-1, with Rory Craven and Niall Harte finding the net, before Gorman kept Orchard in it, but Aidan Davidson’s goal – Parkview’s fifth – put the result beyond doubt.
