Gary Boyle steps in as new boss at Warrenpoint Town FC with John Gill stepping down

Following a 1-1 draw with Portstewart FC in Milltown today, Warrenpoint Town FC announced the departure of interim manager John Gill who had stepped in last January when Barry Gray made the move to Newry City AFC replacing Gary Boyle. A few hours later in a second statement, WTFC announced Gary Boyle, who was Gill’s assistant, as the new first team manager effective immediately.

The first Club Statement read:

“Following discussions this afternoon, Warrenpoint Town Football Club can announce that John Gill has stepped down as first-team manager effective immediately.

John was appointed as interim manager in January under difficult circumstances allowing the club to plan for the long-term future. John's leadership behind the scenes and on the pitch over the last three years has been influential on many of our young squad and academy players. John has laid the groundwork for his successor to build upon.

The second WTFC statement was as follows:

“Warrenpoint Town Football Club can confirm the appointment of Gary Boyle as first-team manager on a permanent basis.

Gary's vision and knowledge of both the club and local community align with the direction the club would like to move in. Since joining the club in January, Gary has become familiar with the playing staffand knows the work that needs to be carried out in order to be successful.

We look forward to moving into this new era of WTFC, and we are confident that Gary is the perfect person to lead that.”
