Newry City will be going out in search of their first home league win of the season on Friday night as they take on Dungannon Swifts at The Showgrounds.

The two sides were tangled in a relegation battle last season, which concluded with City finishing tenth in the table and the Swifts in eleventh. However, they were able to stay up following a play-off win over Annagh United.

Having appointed former Glentoran boss Rodney McAree, Dungannon have made an impressive start to the season, including claiming draws against Larne, Coleraine and Glentoran.

“They’re all big games,” said Boyle ahead of the upcoming fixture. “But certainly this is one that the table says is important.

“We have to do better at home and we will do better at home. Anybody who comes to The Newry Showgrounds has to know that they’re going to be in for a really tough game. Dungannon have picked up a point today [versus Glentoran] against a really top side and have drawn with Coleraine and Larne as well.

“So, we know what we’re going in to, but we’re hopeful that we can produce a performance and back it up with a result.”
