St Patrick’s Cullyhanna advanced through to the Ulster Club Intermediate Football Final with a comfortable 11-point win over Liatroim Fontenoys on Sunday evening.

Aidan Nugent continued his hot run of form, and Liatroim couldn’t handle him as he finished with 0-9. However, he wasn’t alone in terms of top class performances, as Cullyhanna’s defence, led by full back Sean Connell, held the Down champions to just a solitary point after half-time.

Stephen Reel’s men dominated the ball in the first period, but conspired to kick four wides and drop five shots short, meaning the only held a slender 0-7 to 0-5 lead at the break.

However, Cullyhanna composed themselves after half-time and showed their true class to ease home 0-17 to 0-6.

They will meet Cavan side Ballyhaise in the final on Saturday December 9.
