The Bentley Group Walled City 10-Mile Road Race

It was another weekend and another Race for the Simpson household and this time the destination was Derry as they set off for the Bently Group Walled City 10-mile race on Saturday.

With Peter, Harley and Hailey as the much-valued support, it was Patricia who was donning the Blue and Gold racing vest.

March certainly seems to have come in like a lion, and Leo is still hanging about as it was a bitterly cold and windy morning, as a large field of 1587 runners lined up at 10:30 at St. Columbus Racetrack, completing one lap of the track before heading out along the 10-mile route around the city which took in the Foyle and Peace Bridge. With an overall elevation of 378 feet, it was an undulating course with a few tight drags. It was tough going making headway against the wind at times coupled with tired and heavy legs, but Patricia is made of ‘tough stuff’ and breezed across the finish line in a time of 1:29:08.

Bohermeen AC Half Marathon

Sunday was grey, wet, and miserable – not the weather that would entice one out for a run, but it did nothing to dampen Noel Moan’s enthusiasm to go racing.

Heading down past Slane to Bohermeen in County Meath, he competed in the Half Marathon.

The course, a meandering two loop course with rolling hills the sharpest of which were the start.

The weather was not ideal, as it was raining and with the chill factor of the wind, it felt more like four degrees than seven.

Despite these factors, Noel ran superbly, crossing the line with a new PB in a time of 1:34:44.

Club Half Marathon and 10K

Despite the inclement weather, there was a good turnout for the NCR Club Members Half Marathon and 10K on Saturday morning.

The half Marathon set off at 09:30 and the 10K at 10:00 and there were brilliant results across the two distances.
