Newry Arts Festival hailed ‘a resounding success’ by council

From 1–7 April, “the festival captivated audiences with a dynamic lineup of events and activities that showcased the rich tapestry of artistic talent both locally and internationally” a council statement said.

“The third edition of the Newry Arts Festival drew audiences from across the region and beyond, with its diverse program spanning visual arts, performing arts and workshops that celebrated the transformative power of the arts.

“From captivating theatre productions to electrifying musical performances, the Newry Arts Festival showcased the best of live entertainment. Audiences were mesmerised by the talent on display, as artists from diverse backgrounds took to the stage to share their stories, inspire emotions and ignite imaginations.

“The popular workshops and masterclasses offered attendees the opportunity to delve deeper into their artistic passions and acquire new skills under the guidance of industry professionals. From painting and singing to comic drawing and poetry, participants of all ages and skill levels found inspiration and enlightenment in these hands-on learning experiences.”

Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Councillor Valerie Harte said, “We are thrilled with the overwhelming response to Newry Arts Festival 2024. This year’s festival was a testament to the vibrancy and diversity of our local arts scene, as well as the enduring spirit of our community. We are immensely grateful to everyone who contributed to its success and helped make it a truly unforgettable experience.”

As the curtains close on another memorable year, organisers are already looking ahead to the future, with plans underway for the next instalment of the Newry Arts Festival.
