Newry’s man of the century, Sean Hollywood, has been remembered at an event described as a postscript to the blue plaque unveiled in his honour.

Just over three years ago Newry Maritime Association submitted a nomination to the Ulster History Circle to commemorate the former teacher, actor and director, civil rights leader, hurler, footballer and Gael.

Ahead of Wednesday’s event NMA’s Chairman, James McArevey spoke to the Newry Reporter to explain a bit more about the event at Newry Library and why he felt it was important Sean Hollywood was honoured.

There’ll be further coverage in next week’s Newry Reporter.
