As part of their ongoing work with the Agreement project, Women of Clonduff have organised a local screening of the documentary "Wave Goodbye to Dinosaurs" to mark this week's International Day of Rural Women, which will take place on Sunday, October 15.

It is the extraordinary story of the NI Women's Coalition (WC), a cross-community party formed in 1996 by local working and middle class women.

Frustrated with the stalemate of local politics, the women ran a door-to-door campaign to win two seats at the historic peace talks, which culminated in the Good Friday Agreement.  Timely and inspiring. It is a compelling example of how grassroots activism can bring about real change.

Come along to this FREE event in Chandlers House, Rathfriland on Sunday, October 15 from 7pm-9pm.  Light refreshments will be served on arrival and the group will host a conversation with NIWC member and campaigner Sheila Fairon after the screening.

Please note this event is open for both men and women.  Book your place at [email protected] or call 075 40866986.

Thanks to The National Lottery Heritage Fund and Ulster Presents by Ulster University, Women of Clonduff brought Amanda Dunsmore's artwork 'Agreement' to Chandler's House in June.

The artwork aims to create a silent, intimate space for reflection and contemplation on the meaning of ‘agreement’. This screening is part of follow-on series of conversations and workshops exploring people’s thoughts and feelings about what the Belfast/Good Friday Agreement means to them today.
